Margate police are asking people to avoid the area of an Essex and Winchester avenues Saturday evening.
Downed wires have created the need for detours while utility company crews assess and repair the wires, police said in a Facebook post.
They asked that anyone in the area follow all emergency personnel’s instructions and not cross or disturb any caution tape that is up in the area.
Any wires see down should be considered live and avoided.
Police did not have an exact time as to when power would be returned to affected homes, or when the area would be deemed safe.
“Crews are working as fast as possible,” police said.
