Pedal PGH participant hit by vehicle; police search for driver

Police are searching for a vehicle they said hit a bicyclist who was participating in Pedal PGH and left the scene before authorities arrived on Sunday.

Pittsburgh Public Safety officials said first responders were called to the 4000 block of Beechwood Boulevard in Greenfield for reports of a hit-and-run incident involving a cyclist and a vehicle.

The victim, an adult man, was riding his bike when he was hit by a vehicle. The man sustained minor injuries and was treated on the scene.

Officials said the man declined to be taken to the hospital.

Witnesses reported seeing a white SUV drive away from the area following the collision.

A description of the driver was not immediately available.

An investigation is now underway.
