FARGO, N.D. (Valley News Live) — A detached garage was destroyed in a fire late Tuesday night in Fargo, according to Fargo Fire Department Battalion Chief Jason Ness.
Scanner traffic indicated explosions could be heard from inside the structure. This has not been confirmed by the Fargo Fire Department.
Crews were dispatched at approximately 10:25 p.m. to the scene of the garage fire at 1410 18th St. S., Ness said. The garage was fully engulfed at the time of their arrival.
No one was inside the garage at the time of the fire, and no injuries were reported, according to Ness. Crews quickly doused the garage with water and had the blaze under control within 10 minutes of arrival.
Ness said the initial report indicated an individual was working on equipment in the garage when flammable liquids ignited and got away from him. He was uninjured but unable to extinguish the fire himself.
The garage and its contents are a complete loss, Ness said, though a damage estimate is not known at this time. Two nearby structures suffered heat damage as a result of the fire.
Four fire engines, one ladder truck and a command vehicle responded to the scene. Fargo Police and Sanford Ambulance assisted in the response, according to Ness.
