The tennis courts at Flaherty Park in Wake Forest are temporarily closed as the town begins a $1.4 million renovation project.
The project will replace the courts’ existing asphalt surface and add new fencing, fence posts, nets and suspension devices.
The renovations will also include new benches, restroom facilities and water fountains. An accessible sidewalk will be built connecting the tennis courts to the Flaherty Park Community Center.
Town officials are reminding residents that the area is an active construction site and is closed to the public during the work. People are asked to follow posted signs and stay out of the construction area.
