Ariana Andonian has left her VP of Player Personnel position in the Philadelphia 76ers to join the Los Angeles Sparks as the franchise’s newest general manager.

A promising member of the Philadelphia 76ers’ leadership has left the franchise for a major break in the WNBA.

The Los Angeles Sparks formally announced that they have hired Philadelphia 76ers’ top executive Ariana Andonian.

Andonian left the 76ers to become the Sparks’ newest general manager.

“Ariana has distinguished herself throughout her career as an exceptional evaluator of talent and a thoughtful, forward-thinking basketball executive,” said Sparks Managing Partner and Governor Eric Holoman in a statement. “She has earned the respect of some of the best basketball minds in the game, but what stood out to us throughout this process was her vision for building a team and an organization. Ariana understands the importance of identifying talent, developing players and creating a culture that can sustain success. We are thrilled to welcome her home to Los Angeles to lead the next chapter of Sparks basketball.”

Ariana Andonian to lead LA Sparks front office after 76ers tenure

Ariana Andonian leaves the Philadelphia 76ers in the wake of the team’s massive front-office shakeup that saw the prior dismissal of Daryl Morey.

Andonian held the Sixers’ Vice President of Player Personnel post. Beyond that, she also served as the general manager of the team’s NBA G League affiliate, the Delaware Blue Coats.

From 2015 to 2019, she began as a scouting consultant under Morey with the Houston Rockets. While earning her MBA at Duke University, she served as a player personnel consultant, working directly with Hall of Fame coach Mike Krzyzewski.

She spent four seasons from 2020 to 2024 in Memphis under GM Zach Kleiman, climbing the ranks to become the Grizzlies’ Director of Player Personnel. Eventually, she reunited with Morey in Philadelphia, further establishing her case as one of the most talented executives in basketball.

Andonian will lead the Sparks’ front office following the dismissal of Raegan Pebley. She will be tasked with building the franchise after LA’s abysmal 15-win season, missing the 2026 WNBA Playoffs
