U.S. adults are consuming less alcohol, new poll says

  • August 15, 2025

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) – A record low number of adults in the United States are consuming less alcohol, according to a new poll.

A new poll conducted by Gallup shows the percentage of adults who say they consume alcohol has decreased to 54%, which is the lowest number by 1 percentage point in Gallup’s 90-year trend.

Gallup says that the decrease appears to be linked to consumers’ growing health concerns.

According to Gallup’s data, a record high 53% of U.S. adults say that moderate drinking is bad for their health, which is a 28% increase from 2015.

Gallup has tracked Americans’ drinking behavior since 1939 and their views on the health impacts of moderate drinking since 2001.

The latest results are from Gallup’s Annual Consumption Habits Survey, which can be found here.
