Young bear rescued from tree in Manchester
MANCHESTER, N.H. —
In collaboration with New Hampshire Fish and Game, the Manchester Police and Fire Departments rescued a bear from a tree on Tuesday morning.
Officials say just after 7 a.m., they received a report of a bear in a tree near Amory Street and Notre Dame Avenue.
According to officials, Animal Control Officers found a bear that is estimated to be one year old and 100 pounds in a tree.
Police say they called in Fish and Game to help get the bear onto the ground. The bear was tranquilized, but proceeded to climb higher into the tree.
The Manchester Fire Department brought in an aerial bucket, and a Fish and Game official was able to retrieve the bear.
Manchester police say the bear will soon be released back into the woods in another area of New Hampshire.
