The Dodgers held an 8.5 game lead on the Padres early last month. That cushion is now gone thanks to a 12-21 record over their last 33 games. As they have cooled the Padres have heated up – winning 14 of their last 17 games.
With 41 games remaining the NL West is up for grabs. One team will have a chance to make a move over the next 12 days. The Padres and Dodgers play each of the next two weekends, the first three at Dodger Stadium. They will then clash at Petco Park beginning August 22.
