Multiple humpback whales were spotted feeding and spouting off the Sonoma Coast Tuesday, Sept. 8, putting on a show for visitors who took to the water to enjoy the late summer heat.

The whale sightings off Wrights Beach north of Bodega Bay come as the North Bay experiences some of the warmest temperatures of the year this week, prompting a heat advisory originally scheduled to start at 10 a.m. Wednesday to instead go into effect about 2:30 p.m. Tuesday. The advisory is set to stay in effect until 10 p.m. Thursday.
