Kiyan Anthony paid tribute to his father, Carmelo Anthony, with a tattoo showcasing a picture of him celebrating Syracuse’s 2003 men’s basketball NCAA Division I national championship.
Tattoo artist Steve Wiebe did the work, and @inkednba shared it on Instagram.
The original picture, snapped by Craig Jones of Getty Images, showcased Melo holding up the Syracuse Post-Standard after he just led the team to an 81-78 win over Kansas in the title game. Anthony dropped 20 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists in the win.
Now Kiyan Anthony is heading to Syracuse and hoping to write his own legacy in town. His tattoo also has a twist, with the headline LEGACY instead of CHAMPIONSHIP on the paper. In addition, the younger Anthony replaces the older Anthony on the front cover of the Post-Standard.
Anthony is a 4-star recruit ranked 34th nationally in the class of 2025, per the latest 247Sports composite list. The 6’5″, 185-pound shooting guard played high school ball at Long Island Lutheran.
