LONG BEACH — A commercial flight from Sea-Tac to Honolulu, Hawaii appears to have experienced an in-air emergency as it flew toward the Washington coastline.

It appears to have made it safely back to Seattle.

Delta Airlines Flight 419 (DAL419) did multiple passes over Pacific County and the Long Beach Peninsula below 10,000 feet. A U.S. Air Force C-17 Globemaster III transport aircraft was apparently scrambled to the area and also flew low over the peninsula — its elevation was clocked at around 5,000 feet a few minutes after passing over the Ocean Park area, according to live flight tracking data.

“Geez, just had some kind of jet fly right over our house,” Chinook Observer reporter Brandon Cline said at 6:49 p.m. regarding the C-17.

Multiple witnesses have reached out with reports of the lower-than-normal flight passing overhead.

There is no official word yet on what occurred. The flight was moving toward Sea-Tac airport according to the FlightRadar24 app.

According to the app, the flight left Sea-Tac at 4:40 p.m.
