Spotting a deer from the car window, or occasionally from the windows of my parents’ home in the hills, is one of my favorite little surprises, but nothing is sweeter than when a baby deer tags along. Just ask ‘Deer Debbie,’ the proud owner of Buck Tales Deer Farm in Florida, who gets to look after adorable deer famliies every day!

On September 7, she wandered outside to hear a fawn named Delilah making the strangest noise. The playful baby deer was playing with a squeaky toy! She found the dog toy, which belongs to her canine friend, Coconut, on the ground and couldn’t help giving it a squeak—and then she couldn’t stop!

Just listen to her! This sweet baby deer hasn’t even grown out of her spotted coat (that takes about 3-4 months), and she’s already discovering her musical talent. I wish I could know what she’s thinks about it!

Naturally, viewers are smitten with both the fawn and her discovery. @Keri_berryy commented, “this just made my day 100x better,” while another person wrote, “giant dogs I tell you.”

People online have been calling deer ‘grass puppies’ for years, but Delilah takes that label to entirely new levels. Between her friendliness with humans and her new-found love for squeaky toys, she could be Coconut’s playmate, best friend, and favorite cousin.

Curious Baby Deer

The owner of Buck Tales Deer Farm isn’t the only one who’s witnessed baby deer shenanigans. @Thelehighcrafter shared, “Fawns are curious about stuff. I’ll tell you that much. They keep trying to eat my firefly lights. Some have been snapped off and left on the ground this season.”

That sounds adorable to witness but annoying to clean up after! Luckily for Debbie, her farm is built especially for the families of whitetail deer who call it home, so every fawn like Delilah will get to grow up and explore the world in peace.
