Once again Star Trek: Strange New Worlds is performing well, returning to the Nielsen’s top streaming chart for the season 3 premiere. Paramount+ may be ready to say goodbye to the series, but it appears viewers are not.

Season 3 starts strong

The Nielsen top 10 USA original streaming program chart for the week of July 14 – 20 released today includes Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. This chart week included the release of the first two episodes of season 3 (“Hegemony, Part II” and “Wedding Bell Blues”) which dropped on Paramount+ on July 17. SNW ranked #7 with 471 million minutes viewed, which is a new record for the series.

The second season of Strange New Worlds made the Top 10 list in all but 2 weeks of its run in 2023, with the week of the season finale ranking #10 with 304 million minutes viewed. The previous series high in minutes viewed was for the week the second episode of season 2 debuted, with 393 million. Of course, Paramount+ has picked up a few million more subscribers over the last couple of years, but few Paramount+ shows even make it into the top 10. Strange New Worlds is the only Paramount+ show on the originals chart for this week. While the various Taylor Sheridan shows are the best performers for the streamer, the Star Trek shows (including Discovery and Picard) have popped in and out of the top 10 consistently, with Strange New Worlds being the best performing. And earlier this year the Star Trek: Section 31 streaming movie also made the top 10 movies list.

Season 3 of Strange New Worlds is just over halfway done with a fourth season already filmed, expected to be released in mid to late 2026. A six-episode fifth and final season will begin shooting in Toronto next month.
