Several employees at the Sharon Regional Health System hospital in Sharon have reached out to 21 News, claiming that they have not received their paychecks as of Friday evening.
Peter Bastone, the CEO of Sharon Regional Health System, tells 21 News that employees should expect to see their paychecks post to their accounts on Monday, September 14.
Bastone explained that the delay is due to the payroll missing the 5 p.m. deadline. He further told 21 News that Sharon Regional has recently upgraded to a new operational IT system that has impacted transfers over the last few pay periods.
“No healthcare services have been impacted, and our patient satisfaction scores remain high,” said Bastone.
It has been previously reported that Sharon Regional Health System has been facing some financial hardships.
Tenor Health Partners, the operators of the hospital, owe several agencies hundreds of thousands of dollars in loans. These loans were used to help the hospital reopen and keep its doors open, something that Bastone says the hospital had been struggling with.
Bastone said at the time,” Steward should have never closed the hospital. They could have kept it open and gone through the bankruptcy in a much different way, but they didn’t do it that way. So once everything is closed, you know, you have to go through the Department of Health again. You have to get everything relicensed. How do you hold onto your employees?”
Among the money that is owed, Penn-Northwest Development Corporation helped put together a $9.15 million loan. Other instances of aid to help reopen the hospital have been reported.
