Chicago Sky star DiJonai Carrington showed her support for former WNBA player Destanni Henderson following her engagement.
Henderson was thrilled to announce her engagement to her partner, Zariah Lynn, via a joint Instagram post on Friday.
The proposal happened on Sept. 1, but the couple didn’t officially share the news on social media until nearly two weeks later. Henderson and Lynn shared some photos of the heartwarming moment.
“It was always you.. 💍,” the caption of the co-authored post read.
Congratulatory messages quickly poured in for the couple. Among them was an endearing message from Carrington.
“😍😍😍 awwww congratulationssss!!!” the Sky star wrote in the comments section.
Carrington and Henderson competed against each other during the latter’s WNBA tenure from 2022 to 2024.
Henderson is currently playing for Turkish team Danilo’s Pizza in the Turkish Women’s Basketball Super League. Before taking her talents outside the WNBA, the former South Carolina star averaged 4.0 points, 2.0 rebounds and 2.5 assists in six games for the Atlanta Dream in 2024.
Meanwhile, Carrington is a key player for the Sky despite dealing with a foot injury early in the season. Since returning to action, the 2024 WNBA Most Improved Player winner has suited up for 11 games for Chicago this season. She’s averaging 8.8 points and 3.1 rebounds in 16.2 minutes off the bench.
Although Carrington and the Sky are now out of contention for a playoff spot, they still have four regular-season games remaining before they close out this year’s campaign.
The 5-foot-11 guard’s status for this last stretch of games remains unclear. She missed Chicago’s last game before the World Cup break due to the same foot issue.
Carrington recently signed a multi-year deal with Unrivaled. She will play in the 3-on-3 league’s third year during the WNBA offseason.
