The Pittsburgh Steelers released their list of players who will be inactive for the team’s Week 1 Sunday afternoon regular-season opener against the Atlanta Falcons and it includes CB Joey Porter Jr. in addition to a few rookies.
After being listed as questionable for Sunday’s game on the Friday injury report, Porter is on the Steelers’ pregame inactive list. He was listed with a back injury throughout the week and only practiced on a limited basis. Porter, however, has also been involved in a contract impasse throughout the offseason and that likely is the main reason he is not playing on Sunday.
Also inactive for Sunday’s game are Steelers quarterbacks Will Howard and Drew Allar. Howard is dressed and listed as the team’s emergency third quarterback. He can only play against the Falcons should both QB Aaron Rodgers and Mason Rudolph get injured during the contest.
The Steelers’ list of inactive players also includes several healthy scratches. Those players are OG Gennings Dunker, DT Kevin Jobity Jr., and DL Gabriel Rubio.
The Steelers elevated CB Doneiko Slaughter from their practice squad on Saturday, and he is in uniform and active for Sunday’s game.
