Caitlin Clark was unimpressed when a reporter asked about her relationship with Angel Reese following Team USA’s gold-medal victory at the 2026 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup.
Caitlin Clark won’t entertain any drama right after her gold medal run with Team USA at the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup.
Clark met media members for a postgame interview right after their dominant 97-79 win over France in the gold medal match. For the final part of the session, a reporter suddenly asked the WNBA star if she and Angel Reese are now friends.
Confused, Clark immediately shut down the reporter and clarified her relationship with Reese. As she walked away, the Indiana Fever guard stared at him and pointed him out for the bizarre question.
A representative of Team USA eventually approached the reporter after the incident.
“We always been friends,” Clark responded. “Don’t try to do that. Don’t try to do that.”
Caitlin Clark, Angel Reese rivalry
Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese share one of the most famous on-court rivalries in women’s basketball.
It all started during the 2023 NCAA title game, where Reese’s LSU squad outlasted Clark and Iowa. The intense duel and bantering between the two led many to assume that they have a real conflict that extends beyond the hardwood.
As they reached the WNBA, Clark and Reese maintained their rivalry, frequently having heated and highly physical moments that drew attention from fans and media.

Despite the media narratives and public assumptions about their rivalry, Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese have mutual respect for each other. Their competition and conflicts are mainly limited to the basketball court.
As such, both WNBA players have managed to set aside their on-court beef by working it out to help Team USA win it all in this year’s FIBA Women’s World Cup. Clark and Reese shared plenty of laughs, special moments, and support as teammates throughout the tournament.
Clark dropped 12 points and three assists for Team USA against France, while Reese contributed three points and three rebounds in nine minutes.
