ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WLOS) — North Carolina Governor Josh Stein said the Biltmore Championship Asheville is a great way to showcase western North Carolina.
He was at the Cliffs at Walnut Cove for today’s round of the PGA Tour stop.
He said while the economic benefit will mean millions for the area this weekend, he’s also looking at the bigger picture of free exposure as the tournament is shown in more than 200 countries.

“But, more importantly, it’s going to show these gorgeous mountains to viewers all over the world. People are going to say to themselves, ‘I want to go there,’ and that’s what we want to do, is to let the rest of the world know that western North Carolina is open for business,” Stein said.
Governor Stein also says people may come for the golf and natural beauty, but they will also find the food is great, the beer is good and the crafts are beautiful.
