LOS ANGELES, Ca. (KATU) – — The Portland Fire fell to the Los Angeles Sparks 105-84 on the road Sunday night, marking their fourth straight loss and seventh in their past eight games.

Portland trailed by just two points, 28-26, after a tightly contested first quarter. But the second quarter is where things fell apart for the Fire, as the Sparks outscored them 32-15 to take a 60-41 halftime lead. The Fire could not make up the deficit in the second half.

It was not Portland’s best night from 3-point range. The Fire were just 6-of-27 from beyond the arc, shooting 22%.

Carla Leite led Portland with 23 points on 7-of-10 shooting from the field. Charisma Osborne added 13 points.

With the win, Los Angeles swept the three-game season series against Portland.

The Fire return home Tuesday to host the Golden State Valkyries in the final game of their inaugural season. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m.
