(WFSB) – Patrick Clancy described the mental health struggles he saw his ex-wife Lindsay Clancy face in an exclusive interview with CBS’ “60 Minutes.”
He said Lindsay Clancy, a Wallingford native, would go nights without sleeping. She seemed depressed and had intrusive thoughts.
While there were warning signs, he said he wasn’t sure how to help.
“I could piece together what it was like to be really, really anxious or depressed,” Patrick Clancy said. “But I didn’t know how to manage a postpartum illness. I think mental illness has this ability to be tragically deceptive. So, I’m sure there are things that I didn’t see.”
Patrick Clancy said he’s forgiven Lindsay.
Both of them have sued Lindsay Clancy’s health care providers, claiming they failed to properly treat her. Some have denied wrongdoing; others have not responded.
A judge declared a mistrial on Sept. 4.
Prosecutors have not decided whether to re-try Lindsay Clancy. A court hearing is scheduled for Sept. 29.
