TUCSON, Ariz. (KVOA) — A top space official is bringing a national tour to Southern Arizona to inspire the next generation of scientists.
NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman will visit the University of Arizona campus to meet with Wildcats. The visit is part of NASA’s “Inspiration Tour,” which celebrates the country’s achievements in space exploration and aeronautics, according to university officials.
Isaacman plans to discuss the future of space exploration, technology and innovation during the town hall event. Erika Hamden, the director of the Arizona Space Institute and a professor of astrophysics, will lead a question-and-answer session.

The town hall is scheduled for Sept. 23, from 11 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. at the Bear Down Gymnasium, 1428 E. University Blvd., with check-in starting at 10 a.m. Undergraduate students, graduate students, high school students, and community members can attend, but seating is limited and students receive priority, officials said. Those interested can register for the event online.
The U of A ranks first in space sciences among public universities and second in astronomy and astrophysics expenditures nationwide. University researchers have led key NASA projects, including the OSIRIS-REx asteroid sample return mission, the James Webb Space Telescope and Pandora.
