Otters are playful animals who enjoy new and creative ways to use their energy. Thankfully for the otters, the keepers at Peak Wildlife Park are always looking for new ways to stimulate their minds and keep them busy. The staff posted an adorable video on Instagram of the otters playing, and it went viral instantly.
The little otters were treated to a ball pit filled with small blue-and-white plastic balls, and they found more than one way to enjoy them. After the staff finished setting up the new activity, the sweet pups stuck their curious little heads out of the enclosure door, and the inquisitive looks on their faces were epic.
Most of the otters reached for individual balls instead of rolling around in the makeshift ball pit. Honestly, they’re so cute using their little paws to pick up the balls and cradle them like they’re precious items. It’s just too adorable!
Although most of the otters used their strong webbed feet to hold on to the plastic balls, one little pup decided to bring one into the water with him and hit it around on the surface. He seemed to be having a great time pushing it around.
Viewers Were Instant Fans of the Otters’ Play Session
Pointing to their playful nature, one Instagram user joked, “If their arm were longer, I think they’d be good at juggling.”
Another follower suggested the otters could be professional athletes, saying, “Love the Olympic-level ball handling!” Another fan wrote, “They could call their show Otter Disbelief!”
Many viewers were thankful for the otters’ cuteness in the brief but heartwarming clip, saying things like, “I was having a bad day before seeing this. Now I’m having a good day,” and “That’s amazing! I love this!”
Of course, a few of the balls didn’t survive the otters’ sharp teeth and claws, but at the end of the day, all the otters had a blast and enjoyed their enrichment activity.
