You’ll most likely want SteamVR Beta if you have the new Steam Frame, especially on Linux – with SteamVR Beta v2.18.1 bringing numerous improvements.

Key Changes

SteamVR:

Default environment is now the “Aurora” (can be disabled in settings).
Added content-aware aurora color tinting, in theater environment.
System UI supports gamepad navigation.
Lesser-used UX controls moved to an “Additional Options” menu.
Game dimming while the dashboard is up can be disabled in settings.

Input:

Fixed bindings not correctly recognizing some render model simulation values.
Fixed the Binding UI not displaying the correct default values for render model simulation type.
Fixed bindings missing when they were modified locally and then the Steam account was changed.

Steam Link:

Added tethered Quest support over USB (must be used with Steam Link Beta).
Fixed cases of video corruption, checkerboarding, and stuck streams.
Improved automatic bitrate selection.
Allow HMD to override host framerate (must be used with Steam Link Beta) if configured manually at OS level on Meta Quest headsets.

Linux:

Fixed async reprojection failing on AMD GPUs.
Fixed GPU selection on systems with both discrete and integrated GPUs.
Fixed compatibility with systems without systemd.

Nice to see more Linux fixes come – Valve left SteamVR in quite a state on Linux for far too long. I was hoping they would have fixed it up before the Steam Frame arrived but never-mind. Hopefully they’ll get it into a fully usable state soon without workarounds being needed.
