Sydney Taylor has her first major award under her belt. The Sky guard was named to the AP All-Rookie Team on Sunday, joining AP Rookie of the Year Olivia Miles, the Wings’ Azzi Fudd, the Storm’s Flau’jae Johnson, the Liberty’s Pauline Astier, and the Tempo’s Kiki Rice.
Taylor averaged 13.6 points and 2 assists in 37 games this season. Once she moved into the starting rotation, her scoring jumped to 15.4 points.
Taylor was one of the big break-out stories of the year as she went undrafted out of college and had played the previous two years overseas. Now a much bigger profile and payday are coming.
Taylor will be a reserved free agent this offseason, meaning she can only negotiate with the Sky. She told the Sun-Times that she’s interested in signing a multi-year deal with the team.
