WEST FARGO — A moose was seen making its way through West Fargo on Monday, Sept. 28.

Police said the moose was in a rural area on Monday afternoon, and they’re asking people to give it plenty of room.

A WDAY viewer sent a Ring camera video of the moose making its way across their lawn at around 4 a.m. on Monday.

It was seen again at around 8:30 a.m. trotting through South Elementary’s basketball court.

The West Fargo Police say they aren’t sharing the exact location, because they don’t want anyone going out to look for it.

North Dakota Game and Fish Biologist Doug Leier said a moose passing through the area this time of year isn’t as unusual as people may think.

“If I went back and looked over the past, you know, number of years, there’s usually an urban moose found within the Fargo area around this time of year almost every single year, and that’s just the ones that we hear about,” Leier said.

Leier says it’s breeding season and that’s when moose tend to wander.

He adds that if anyone spots a moose in the future, give it plenty of room and let it move along its own.
