Megan Thee Stallion says she thought she was “having a stroke” during the health crisis that ended her Broadway run

Megan Thee Stallion revealed her health crisis in her latest cover story on Marie Claire. In March, the rapper was hospitalized after performing on Broadway. She recalled thinking she was “having a stroke.”

She said, “I don’t think I was aware of how much I was going to be putting my body through.”

Stallion was scheduled to play Zidler in Moulin Rouge! The Musical for eight weeks. However, after a week, she was hospitalized as she was dehydrated and was not “eating properly.”

She said that every day she showed up “a little bit mentally not okay. I didn’t want to let anyone down.”

When she was hospitalized, she said, “I wasn’t getting any oxygen to my brain, so my hands had froze. My face had froze. I was trying to tell everybody that I don’t think I’m okay. They only thought I was dehydrated.”

Stallion went to the hospital after a lot of convincing. After her time there, she discovered that she was facing exhaustion and was having a panic attack.

Stallion did not stop showing up for her show until her body eventually gave out, leading to her hospitalization.

Since then, the rapper has been taking care of herself. She said, “I’m definitely trying to stay more hydrated and be more calm.”

She resumed performing in the show two days after she was hospitalized. However, she ended her run two weeks early.

Stallion also took to Instagram in April to share the news. According to PEOPLE, she wrote, “I’ve been pushing myself past my limits lately, running on empty, and my body finally said enough. It honestly scared me.”

Stallion also described the incident as a “real wake-up call.”
