Angel Reese was “humbled” by Atlanta Dream veteran DeWanna Bonner after goading the Washington Mystics fans following their WNBA playoff KO.
The Dream swept the Mystics 2-0 in their first-round playoff series, winning 92-77 and 93-75 on the road in Game 2 to set up a semifinal best-of-five clash with the New York Liberty. After the game, Reese and Allisha Gray waved goodbye after eliminating the Mystics, only for vet Bonner to step in.
Bonner put their hands down to stop the goading of the Mystics fans inside the CareFirst Arena. Reese scored 15 points on the night in what is her first WNBA playoff campaign, having spent her first two seasons in the league with the struggling Chicago Sky before being traded to the Dream last offseason. Reese and Co. were also left utterly baffled by the darkness that halted the WNBA playoff game.

Should the Dream get past the Sky and reach the WNBA Finals, one of the Dallas Wings, Golden State Valkyries, defending champions Las Vegas Aces, or Caitlin Clark’s Indiana Fever will be waiting.
“She keeps us humble for sure. She’s just a great leader in the locker room,” Reese said of Bonner, who intervened on her victory lap. “She keeps us together.
“We have a lot of fun with her, I mean, we’re young, and we tease her all the time, but I just love having her.
“It’s amazing, and I’m just really joyful, and I’m just gonna continue to fight, and we’re trying to get to the championship.”

“I’m a team player. Being able to have an opportunity to come to Atlanta,” Reese continued.
“This is what I came here for. We want to get out of the first round, but it’s not what we’re gonna stop at.
“We have a good matchup, obviously, going back home when you get the next two games at home.
“It’s gonna be really important for the city to come out for me. That’s my don’t forget, but I’m really happy to go back home to Atlanta after supporting the cast at home.”

Reese will now face off against Breanna Stewart at the Liberty, who led a youthful Team USA to world championship glory in Berlin last month. “Yeah, they’re a great veteran team. They’re full of winners,” Reese said of the Liberty.
“Obviously, Stew is a great winner. She’s also a great player as well. We’re gonna stick together and continue to do the things, and nothing matters that we did in the regular season.
“Obviously, we beat them in the last two games, but that’s scratched. We have to start over, come back together, and figure out how we’re gonna pull these two wins out at home.”
