Officers responded to the shooting near South 9th and East Carson streets, just outside the stadium. Police said the shots were fired as crowds were exiting the venue, where Westinghouse played University Prep in a City League matchup.
Two male victims and one female victim, all believed to be teenagers, were taken to the hospital and are in stable condition, Pittsburgh Police Chief Jason Lando said.

Lando said the shooting happened while police were trying to break up a fight.
“We had officers both inside and outside of the stadium, just there out of precaution as a safety measure. As the game ended, there was a large crowd out here on Carson Street. A couple of fights broke out. We had multiple officers from the city and Port Authority that were on the scene, helping to just facilitate people safely getting out, breaking up a couple fights, when suddenly, an individual pulled out a firearm and fired multiple rounds,” Lando said.

Lando said there was already a hefty Pittsburgh Police and Port Authority Police presence inside and outside of the game. There are also metal detectors at the stadium. On Thursday night, police did not know if the shooter or the victims had been inside the stadium before the shooting.
Police said the shooter ran away and is still at large. A detailed description was not immediately available. One person was taken to police headquarters for questioning about the incident and police recovered a gun which may have been used in the shooting.
