How did Northern California do at the end of the water year?

Dirk Verdoorn

It’s the end of another year, not the calendar year yet; but the end of the water year.

The water year runs from Oct. 1 to Sept. 30 the following year.

This 2025-2026 season saw a fair amount of water, with most spots in Northern California near normal or above normal for the amount of rain they received.

Out of the official NWS sites monitored, Stockton came out on top with 1.69 inches of rain above what is average.

Almost all of the sites did better than last year, with Redding being the only location that did not receive as much rain as last year.
