Police in Gilmanton say they were searching for someone in connection with a large police presence in Epsom more than two weeks ago.

There was a large police presence near Route 140 in Gilmanton for hours on Monday. It has since cleared.

Officials say Dana Hathaway, 29, violated probation and fled from officers on Sept. 18 near Suncook Valley Highway in Epsom when they tried to arrest him. He was not found.

Gilmanton police did not say whether they were specifically searching for Hathaway. Hathaway’s criminal history includes charges for robbery and assault.

A blue Nissan was seen being towed away from the scene in Gilmanton on Monday, approximately 20 miles from the Epsom search. Roughly 30 minutes later, News 9 witnessed the tow truck leaving the police station without the car.

Police say there is no known threat to the public at this point.

Officials ask people to call police if they see anything out of the ordinary in the area.
