NORMAL, IL (WGEM) – Two Quincy High girls tried to keep their postseason alive Monday at Ironwood Golf Course, but both Blue Devils saw their season end at the sectional.
Elise Snider started on Hole 7, a par-5, where her fourth shot set her up for an easy tap-in for par. Snider did not make the cut, finishing at 17-over 72.
Fellow Blue Devil Alexa Mosley also was in action after starting on a tough back nine. Teetering on the cusp of state all day and needing something big, she got it on the fourth hole.
Her tee shot put her right at the edge of the green, and she sank the long putt for a much-needed birdie.
Mosley stayed hot, parring Hole 5 and keeping it going on the par-4 sixth, where she chipped out of the rough to inches from the hole and tapped in for birdie.
She ended up in a three-way tie for the final individual spot in the state tournament, but lost the playoff. Mosley finished 10 strokes over par, shooting an 82.
