ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WLOS) — Asheville city officials are advising some city residents that they may experience discolored water on Oct. 6.

This is due to City of Asheville Water Resources crews increasing production at the Mills River Water Treatment Plant, according to an Oct. 5 news release. The increased production is part of the city’s ongoing infrastructure improvements and upgrades to the facility.

“This will only affect the Mills River service area, which is basically everything South of the Blue Ridge Parkway. It will not affect the North Fork service area,” City of Asheville Water Resources Public Information Officer Clay Chandler said. “We don’t anticipate widespread issues.”
