SPRINGDALE, Pa. —
The WPIAL high school football game between Clairton and Springdale that was scheduled for Friday night is being canceled.
In a statement posted on its website, the Allegheny Valley School District cited Springdale’s “low roster numbers” as the reason for the cancellation.

“Due to unforeseen circumstances beyond our control, this Friday’s game between the Clairton Bears and the Springdale Dynamos has been canceled due to a forfeit resulting from Springdale’s low roster numbers,” said a post on the X account for Clairton athletics.

Clairton’s homecoming is rescheduled to halftime of its Oct. 30 home game against Jeannette, which will also be the Bears’ senior night, according to the post. A pep rally for Clairton homecoming and senior recognition is now scheduled for Oct. 29.
