Sport: Golf
High school career accolades: Ella Rawson is one of the area’s top prep golfers and continues to add to an already-impressive résumé during her senior season at Bishop Manogue. The Gonzaga commit is a three-time state champion golfer and four-time individual regional champion. She holds the second-best individual 36-hole score among all classes in NIAA girls golf history at 10-under par for a total score of 136 at Eagle Valley’s East course. Her best single round is a 67, a mark she’s hit three times at Eagle Valley’s East course.
Recent success: Rawson recently helped guide Bishop Manogue to its eighth straight large-class Northern regional title and fourth consecutive individual regional championship. She finished two strokes ahead of her younger sister, Leila, in the two-day 36-hole tournament at Eagle Valley’s East course. She fired a 71 on the first day and matched her high-school best at 67 on the second day to clinch the individual title. Rawson has a chance to join rare company at next week’s 5A state championships. According to the NIAA record book, a third individual state title would make her just the sixth three-time girls golf state champion in Nevada history. The Miners are also chasing their third team state championship in four seasons. The 5A state championships are Oct. 12 at Wolf Run and Oct. 13 at LakeRidge.
