OMAHA, Neb. (KLKN) — The Nebraska Wildlife Rehab, Inc. (NWR) announced that an Arctic fox was confiscated from an Omaha home after being illegally kept as a pet.

NWR said the fox was confiscated by Nebraska Humane Society Animal Control and then transferred to NWR for care.

According to NWR, Arctic foxes are meant to be in demanding environments, like the Arctic and sub-Arctic ecosystems.

Since the fox’s arrival, she received medical attention and vaccinations that were necessary.

She will not be able to be released into the wild as a captive-bred wild animal, according to NWR.

NWR said they are continuing her specialized care while looking for a long-term placement that can accommodate to the environment Arctic foxes need.
