New video shows a crash between a Massachusetts State Police cruiser and Brockton Mayor Moises Rodrigues months before he took office.

In May 2025, Rodrigues, who was Brockton’s city council president at the time, was driving on Route 138 in Raynham.

The video obtained by NewsCenter 5 shows the cruiser making a left turn into a gas station as Rodrigues’s vehicle is driving by.

The two vehicles collide, causing heavy front-end damage. The trooper involved sustained minor injuries, according to a state police report.

Rodrigues claimed the cruiser was at fault and is suing the state for the “severe, painful and disabling physical and emotional injuries” caused during the collision.

According to Rodrigues’s lawsuit, medical costs from the crash exceeded $32,000.

Court records show previous attempts to settle the case have failed.
