BLAIRSTOWN, N.J. – Spooky season is officially underway, and a new slasher television show with ties to our area premiered this week.

Dozens of horror fans from all over the world spent Thursday night at the Blairstown Diner for a special watch party.

The Blairstown Diner was in the original ‘Friday the 13th’ movie. On Thursday, it became the backdrop for the ‘Crystal Lake’ watch party. The new TV series is a prequel to the 1980 film.

Aspen Antel and her dad drove three hours from Harrisburg to see the new series ‘Crystal Lake’ in the town where it all began.

“It’s really nice, it’s like a nice small town. It’s kind of beautiful out here,” Antel told us.

Brian Emenheiser serves as the Blairstown Diner’s event coordinator and frequently dresses up as Jason Voorhees—earning the title South Jersey Jason.

75 ticketed fans lined up outside the Blairstown Diner to watch the Peacock series in its entirety, within walking distance from where it was shot.

“To walk on an actual Hollywood production, it was amazing. It came on at 9:00 this morning. I went dark on social media because I don’t want to have any spoilers,” Emenheiser stated.

Tickets for the watch party sold out in 48 hours.

Nearby business owner Dori Sileo loves the horror hype and talking to fans of the film.

“It’s just really cool to talk to everybody and get their perspective. It’s great to have people come in from all over the place,” Sileo said.

The watch party lasted six and a half hours, which is the length of the entire series minus commercials.
