Winner of the last two rounds of the NASCAR Euro Series season, Paul Jouffreau has climbed back up to the rank of runner-up.

Arriving in Zolder, Belgium, in seventh place in the championship standings, Paul Jouffreau had a stellar weekend, winning both races and ultimately climbing to second place in the overall championship standings after the final round. Finishing as runner-up behind Italian Vittorio Ghirelli, Jouffreau notably had the luxury of beating former Formula 1 driver Nelson Piquet Jr., who ultimately finished third for the season.

Ghirelli made NASCAR Euro Series history this weekend by clinching his third consecutive V8GP title, a feat never before accomplished. A standout throughout the season, the Italian driver delivered a composed and unassuming final race, finishing tenth, which was enough to secure the championship ahead of Jouffreau and, more importantly, Piquet, who was the last driver who could have prevented Ghirelli from winning his third consecutive title.

“It’s incredible to clinch this third title!” exclaimed the now three-time champion. “This year has been very difficult, and our rivals have given us a run for our money, but the team and I have always risen to the occasion and achieved excellent results. It’s not good for the championship when competitors don’t show sportsmanship, but we won the title, and that’s what counts! We’ve been very consistent, we’ve achieved results in every race, and we’ve built a solid lead in the overall standings to deal with situations like today’s. I’m so happy to win this third title, and we’re all going to celebrate together!”

In both races this weekend, Paul Jouffreau started from second position on the grid each time, quickly overtaking pole-sitter Garrett Lowe to take the lead and never relinquish it. In addition to his second-place finish in the overall standings and his four victories this year, the 22-year-old Frenchman secured his third consecutive Junior title.
