BISMARCK, N.D. (KFYR) – State officials are announcing changes to the deer season because of the E-H-D outbreak in white-tailed deer to protect an already slow-to-rebound population.
The harvest of antlerless white-tailed deer units is prohibited and includes all license types. Those units are no longer valid, and hunters who have them will be automatically refunded.
Hunters with whitetail licenses or a muzzleloader license have the option to turn in those licenses for a refund, restored bonus points or donating the fee.
Since early August, Game and Fish reported nearly 350 deaths from the outbreak.
Hunters are encouraged to view the EHD mortality map on the Game and Fish website before deciding whether or not to turn in a license.
