George O. Jones may be 94, but his life is in full swing.
The Hyde Park resident has been honing his game for decades at George Wright Golf Course in Hyde Park and the William J. Devine Golf Course at Franklin Park, and shows little sign of slowing down.
“I play at least three or four times a week,” Jones said. “It’s a great game. I’ve been, you know, involved in it for so long. It’s a part of my life.”
Jones still plays all 18 holes, too.

“But I ride a cart nowadays,” he said. “I don’t walk like I used to.”
A native of Jacksonville, Fla., Jones settled in Boston in the 1950s after serving in the Air Force.
“I’m originally from [Florida], but I’ve been here most of my life,” he said. “Shortly after I came out of the military, I came to Boston because I had a friend who came here … I came to visit, and I’ve been here ever since.”

Jones worked as a technician at Massachusetts General Hospital’s blood bank for 37 years. Retirement left him more time to spend on the golf course.
“It depends on the weather,” he said.

“Well, the two of them are well kept golf courses,” said Jones.
That wasn’t always the case, he said. Thirty years ago, the golf course at Franklin Park “was not maintained like it should have been,” he said.
“But now, now it’s maintained, well kept and everything,” he said.
Jones enjoys playing at both courses and has no plans of stopping anytime soon.
