Kam Williams continues to work his way back from a second procedure on his foot, while Trent Noah is working through a hamstring injury that’s been plaguing him since the summer.
Meanwhile, Jerone Morton is still sidelined after suffering a knee injury toward the start of fall practice.
On Thursday, head coach Mark Pope met with the media to discuss Friday’s matchup. Before he talked, a UK spokesman gave updates on the injured Wildcats.
“Kam Williams is week-to-week. He’s progressing nicely. He has started his progression back to practice.”
“Trent Noah has a hamstring injury. He’s week-to-week with no hard timeline on his return.”
“Jerone Morton is continuing to work through his knee injury. He’s been reevaluated by doctors. We continue to get good news about Jerone, but he’s still a little bit away from returning.”
All three players are set to miss the entire exhibition season, and it’s still far from a certainty that any of them will be ready for the regular-season opener vs. Manhattan on November 3. You’d hope that at least one of them will be back in time for the November 10 Champions Classic matchup with the Kansas Jayhawks, but nothing is a given at this time.
