Las Vegas Aces forward and five-time WNBA MVP A’ja Wilson did not look thrilled while attending the Miami Heat’s third straight loss to start the season.
Wilson has been in a high-profile relationship with Heat center Bam Adebayo since 2025, and is currently watching the man who scored 83 points in a game last season look like a shadow of himself.
Wilson attended Miami’s 115-110 loss to the Charlotte Hornets on October 24. Adebayo had his best game of the season with 20 points (7/17 FG) and eight rebounds, but it still was not impressive enough to help them earn their first win of the season.
A’ja Wilson’s on-camera moment made her disappointment with the Heat apparent
The Heat were showing off the big names in attendance for the Hornets vs. Heat game at the Kaseya Center as the camera panned over to Wilson, who looked visibly aggravated at the situation even when on broadcast for all to see.
Adebayo is averaging 13.0 points and 7.0 rebounds through the first three games of the 2026-27 NBA season, failing as Giannis Antetokounmpo’s supposed co-star on the new-look Heat.
Antetokounmpo has averaged 28.3 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 3.0 assists through these three games, holding up his end of the bargain. Even players like Davion Mitchell have impressed, averaging 17.0 points and 8.7 assists.
Adebayo averaged 20.1 points and 10.0 rebounds last season, so his drop-off in numbers to open the season makes it easy to point him out as one of the main culprits behind Miami’s poor record this season.
Are the Heat going over/under 46.5 wins, and why?
Wilson might not be in the WNBA Finals with the Aces right now, but she picked up her fifth WNBA MVP trophy this season after averaging 26.2 points, 9.4 rebounds, 3.2 assists, 1.4 steals and 1.9 blocks.
Wilson has set a new standard of winning and excellence in the WNBA. While it’s not the same as the NBA, the competitive standards she holds herself and Bam to were evident on her face when the camera panned over to her.
Multiple other Heat players have had disappointing starts to the season, so Adebayo cannot be singularly blamed, but given the responsibilities on his shoulders as the team’s No. 2 option, he needs to set the tone and step up to give Giannis the support he needs.
