CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – Two Cedar Rapids tennis teammates are celebrating a win at a national championship over the weekend.
Nathan Williams and Brady Anderson won the top award for the Unified Doubles competition at the United States Tennis Association’s Intellectual and Developmental Disability Championship in Orlando, Florida.
The two have been tennis partners since high school.
The Unified Doubles game pairs athletes with and without intellectual disabilities on the same team. Twenty-four other unified doubles teams competed at the three-day event.
U.S. Tennis Association says the game puts player sportsmanship and athletic performance on a national stage.
This was also the first U.S. Tennis Association’s tournament in partnership with the Special Olympics to expand accessibility and inclusion in tennis.
