DES MOINES, Iowa —

Dr. Wendy Woods-Swafford, the chief medical officer for UnityPoint Health – Des Moines, is stepping down from her role to join ChildServe as its chief medical officer in January.

Woods-Swafford was the longtime medical director at Blank Children’s Hospital before becoming UnityPoint Des Moines’ chief medical officer last year. She is also a pediatric oncologist.

ChildServe, a private nonprofit pediatric healthcare organization that helps children with special needs, shared a statement from Woods-Swafford.

“I am honored to work alongside the dedicated team members who are making a meaningful difference,” Woods-Swafford said.

It is not clear who will take Woods-Swafford’s place at UnityPoint Health – Des Moines.
