The Three Points Economic Partnership introduced a new Youth Entrepreneur Funding opportunity this year, and applications close this Saturday.

Anyone under the age of 19 with a business or entrepreneurial idea residing in the Three Points Region can apply. The region includes Abbey, Hazlet, Cabri, and the Rural Municipalities of Pitville, Riverside, and Miry Creek.

An all-new opportunity

Lindsay Alliban, economic development officer for the Village of Hazlet, said youth can apply to win $500 towards an entrepreneurship idea.

“As part of our action planning, we identified that we really want to inspire local youth, and part of that is giving them opportunities to express their interests,” she said. “We thought we’d start a program to help inspire kids early on to see the entrepreneurship options in the area and the opportunities they have to come back to our region to live and work.”

The opportunity is sponsored by 9 Mile Legacy Brewing and Minute Spraying, which were both started by local entrepreneurs.

“They have until the end of the month to apply, but we are still waiting for some applications to come in,” said Alliban. “If we don’t receive any, we will likely extend the deadline by about a week, but we hope to see some more applications coming in this week.”
