Major League Baseball has officially set the Super Two cutoff at two years and 133 days (2.133) of major league service time, reports Kiley McDaniel of ESPN. The Super Two is a CBA mechanism for a subset of players to qualify for arbitration one year early.

Players within the top 22% of those between two and three years of MLB service join players in the 3-5 year window in being eligible for arbitration. That assumes they’re not already on a guaranteed contract (usually an early-career extension). Super Two qualifiers must also have logged at least 86 days on an MLB active roster or injured list during the preceding season.

The cutoff varies every season depending on the specific service time of players in that 2-3 year bracket. Here are cutoffs from past seasons:

2025: 2.140
2024: 2.132
2023: 2.118
2022: 2.128
2021: 2.116
2020: 2.125
2019: 2.115
2018: 2.134
2017: 2.123
2016: 2.131
2015: 2.130
2014: 2.133
2013: 2.122
2012: 2.140
2011: 2.146
2010: 2.122
2009: 2.139

MLBTR contributor Ethan Hullihen keeps an unofficial estimate of the expected Super Two cutoff throughout the season. The official 2.133 number indeed aligned with Hullihen’s most recent calculation — and it was therefore the basis for MLBTR’s projected arbitration salaries (courtesy of Matt Swartz).

There are two players who finished the 2026 season with exactly 2.133 service years: Boston reliever Tyron Guerrero and Colorado outfielder Jordan Beck. Swartz projects Guerrero for a $1.1MM salary, while Beck has a $1.2MM forecast (assuming the Rockies tender him a contract).

The 2027 league minimum salary is to be determined in the next collective bargaining agreement, but it’s likely that Guerrero and Beck will earn an extra few hundred thousand dollars by sneaking in above the cutoff. That’s particularly meaningful for Guerrero, a 35-year-old journeyman who hadn’t pitched in MLB in seven years until getting the call from the Red Sox in late May. He worked 40 2/3 innings of 3.10 ERA ball while striking out a quarter of opponents, so Boston will certainly tender him.
