In addition to the evacuation of those buildings and areas nearby, the alert said that people who are not in the area should stay away.

RMU police are investigating the threat. Allegheny County police told Pittsburgh’s Action News 4 that they have been requested to assist the investigation.

The University reopened the building just after 6:30 p.m. Students told Pittsburgh’s Action News 4 reporter Felicity Taylor that there was some chaos at first, but everything was quickly under control.

“Police were like sort of, like, watching people come in and out, making sure everybody came out. But the big thing was the fire alarm going off,” sophomore Cole Lager said.

Police have not released the specific content of the threat. Students said that while they don’t know if it was a joke or not, everyone should be careful about what they post online.

“That kind of stuff really isn’t funny,” sophomore Connor Garcia said. “It scares people for no reason. It could. It could traumatize people.”
