Six more shooting victims ranged in age from 16 to 43 years old.
A 31-year-old woman was identified as the person killed in Friday’s mass shooting at a Spirit Halloween store at the Solano Town Center in Fairfield.
The woman, Constance Hages, was pregnant at the time of her death, family told police.
Fairfield police on Saturday also shared more details about the six others wounded in the shooting, who ranged in age from 16 to 43 years old.
They included a 16-year-old boy, a 19-year-old man, a 32-year-old man, and a 23-year-old man who all remained hospitalized in critical but stable condition.
Two other victims, a 19-year-old man and a 43-year-old man, have been released from the hospital after being treated for gunshot wounds.
No one has been detained in connection with the shooting, which police responded to at 8:30 p.m.
As of Saturday morning, police said they believe the shooting stemmed from a targeted incident involving one suspect inside Spirit Halloween.
Detectives are still reviewing video footage and other evidence to identify the person responsible, the department said.
A witness told KCRA 3’s Denzen Cortez that his wife, who was inside the Spirit Halloween store, heard gunshots and people were running.
“I think she told [me] that there was like five, six, seven shots when people were running,” the witness said.
Another witness, Miena Davis, said she heard a series of popping sounds shortly after entering the store. A second round followed, and shoppers began running.
“Everything froze and was like, ‘What was that?’” Davis said. “And then another round of the same sound went off and then a bunch of shoppers started running.”
Davis said people broke open a gate leading back into the mall, allowing them to escape. She left her car in the parking lot overnight as she ran to safety.
“It was immediate panic,” Davis said. “You heard a mom crying out for their child. And it just was so surreal.”
Solano Town Center announced it has canceled its planned Mall-O-Ween trick-or-treating event in light of the shooting. However, the mall will be open Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Spirit Halloween said the store would remain closed until further notice “out of respect for those impacted and to support the ongoing investigation.”
“We are deeply saddened by the tragic incident that occurred inside of the Solano Town Center at the Spirit Halloween store in Fairfield, CA,” Spirit Halloween said. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the victims of this heartbreaking incident. We are fully cooperating with local law enforcement as they investigate the circumstances surrounding this event. As this remains an active investigation, we defer to the Fairfield Police Department for further details.”
FBI Sacramento said it was deploying its Evidence Response Team to help Fairfield police with the investigation.
Among the other law enforcement agencies that responded were Suisun City police and the California Highway Patrol.
