{"id":100869,"date":"2025-08-22T03:10:08","date_gmt":"2025-08-22T03:10:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/100869\/"},"modified":"2025-08-22T03:10:08","modified_gmt":"2025-08-22T03:10:08","slug":"nicolas-cage-in-talks-for-true-detective-season-5","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/100869\/","title":{"rendered":"Nicolas Cage In Talks For &#8216;True Detective&#8217; Season 5"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tOscar winner <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/nicolas-cage\/\" id=\"auto-tag_nicolas-cage\" data-tag=\"nicolas-cage\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Nicolas Cage<\/a> is in talks to headline the upcoming fifth season of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/hbo\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">HBO<\/a>\u2018s Emmy-winning crime anthology series\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/true-detective\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">True Detective<\/a>, which marks the return of Season 4\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/issa-lopez\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Issa Lopez<\/a>\u00a0as writer-showrunner, sources tell Deadline.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tAs Deadline <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/2025\/02\/true-detective-season-5-setting-revealed-begin-production-1236286442\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">revealed earlier this year,<\/a> the new installment will be set in New York, in Jamaica Bay, per HBO\u2019s Head of Drama Series and Film Francesca Orsi.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tCage is in talks for the lead role of Henry Logan, a New York detective on the case at the center of the new season, sources said. A rep for HBO declined comment. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tThe actor has been circling the part for a while, it is unclear whether the deal will close. Another Oscar winner, Jodie Foster, also took a long time to make her deal for True Detective\u2018s Season 4,\u00a0Night Country.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t\u201cIssa has a lot to say, not unlike she did with\u00a0Night Country,\u201d Orsi said about the new installment. \u201cIt\u2019s a different milieu but just as powerful.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tFilming on Season 5 is slated to begin in 2026 for a 2027 premiere on HBO. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tMatthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson headlined the original installment of True Detective, with Colin Farrell and Mahershala Ali as leads of Season 2 and Season 3, respectively.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tTrue Detective: Night Country, the fourth installment in the anthology, starred Foster and Kali Reis as detectives who dig into the haunted truths that lie buried under the eternal ice in order to solve the disappearance of the eight men who operate the Tsalal Arctic Research Station in Ennis, AK. <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/2024\/09\/jodie-foster-lead-actress-in-a-limited-series-emmys-true-detective-1236087365\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"1236087365\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Foster won an Emmy<\/a> for her work on the show.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tLopez told the\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2024\/12\/11\/entertainment\/true-detective-season-5-will-have-really-f-ked-up-stuff-night-country-showrunner-says\/\">New York Post<\/a>\u00a0in December that \u201cthere\u2019s going to be some important connections between everything that happens in Ennis, Alaska, and the characters in Ennis, Alaska, and what happens in the new [season]. That said, it\u2019s a new story, new characters, everything.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tUntil recently, Cage had been focused entirely on features in his acting career.
