{"id":102902,"date":"2025-08-22T23:00:08","date_gmt":"2025-08-22T23:00:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/102902\/"},"modified":"2025-08-22T23:00:08","modified_gmt":"2025-08-22T23:00:08","slug":"premier-league-stars-rodri-and-alexis-mac-allister-predict-which-atp-player-they-think-will-win-the-us-open","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/102902\/","title":{"rendered":"Premier League stars Rodri and Alexis Mac Allister predict which ATP player they think will win the US Open"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The US Open is the fourth and final Grand Slam on the tennis calendar.<\/p>\n<p>Thousands of fans will flock through the gates at Flushing Meadows to witness the entertaining action unfold.<\/p>\n<p>The raucous yet special atmosphere at Flushing Meadows adds to the brilliance displayed on some of the world\u2019s finest courts.<\/p>\n<p>It remains to be seen which players will conquer New York and lift the coveted <a href=\"https:\/\/tennishead.net\/tag\/us-open\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">US Open<\/a> title, and the tournament has drawn attention from stars in other sports.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/GettyImages-2231321409-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"Carlos Alcaraz prepares to hit a forehand\" class=\"wp-image-320259\" \/>Photo by Sarah Stier\/Getty ImagesFootballers Rodri and Alexis MacAllister predict Carlos Alcaraz to win the US Open<\/p>\n<p>The likes of <a href=\"https:\/\/tennishead.net\/tag\/carlos-alcaraz\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Carlos Alcaraz<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/tennishead.net\/tag\/jannik-sinner\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Jannik Sinner<\/a> lead the way for the men\u2019s favourites to win the US Open title.<\/p>\n<p>Sinner is the world number one and defending champion, while <a href=\"https:\/\/tennishead.net\/what-carlos-alcaraz-has-become-only-the-fifth-player-in-tennis-history-to-do-after-winning-the-cincinnati-open-title\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Alcaraz claimed the Cincinnati Open title <\/a>on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, <a href=\"https:\/\/tennishead.net\/tag\/novak-djokovic\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Novak Djokovic<\/a>, who is aiming for a record 25th Grand Slam title and a fifth at the US Open, cannot be counted out.<\/p>\n<p>But <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/SkySportsTennis\/status\/1958838133199364595\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Sky Sports<\/a> asked Premier League footballers Rodri and Alexis Mac Allister who they would pick to lift the title, and they threw their support behind Alcaraz.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI will say Carlos,\u201d Rodri answered, before MacAllister added: \u201cToday Sinner and Alcaraz are up there, so I\u2019m going to go with Alcaraz.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"819\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/GettyImages-2230159940-1024x819.jpg\" alt=\"Carlos Alcaraz helps an unwell Jannik Sinner at the Cincinnati Open final\" class=\"wp-image-319518\" \/>Photo by Shelley Lipton\/Icon Sportswire via Getty ImagesCarlos Alcaraz opens up on relationship with rival Jannik Sinner<\/p>\n<p>Sinner and Alcaraz are the world\u2019s top two players and they have contested the last four tournament finals they have entered, two each at Grand Slam and Masters 1000 level.<\/p>\n<p>They have firmly established themselves as the leading men of this era of men\u2019s tennis, and the <a href=\"https:\/\/tennishead.net\/carlos-alcaraz-reveals-the-key-to-his-french-open-final-victory-over-jannik-sinner\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">French Open final<\/a> illustrated how phenomenal their matches can be when both are at their best.<\/p>\n<p>Despite their intense and fierce rivalry on court, Alcaraz stressed the fact he has a good relationship with Sinner both in an outside of tennis.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTrash-talking gets a lot of attention. People really like the idea that there is friction between us,\u201d Alcaraz told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ft.com\/content\/c904a7d4-272e-4b06-a03d-62c8ac644663\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">The Financial Times<\/a>. \u201cThat\u2019s what sells.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut although tennis is an individual sport, we are with the same players every week, day in and day out\u2009\u2026 Jannik and I, who have had great battles on the court, see each other a lot off of it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe talk, we train together sometimes. And in the end you forge a good relationship, a beautiful relationship. We want to win and beat each other, but then off court, being good people and getting along is another matter.
